A feng shui checklist helps buyers slow down and notice how a property receives light, movement, air, and daily life.

Review exterior approach, front door, floor plan regularity, center area, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, window views, dampness, and neighborhood noise.

Prioritize homes with good light, clear circulation, dry rooms, usable storage, and calm bedrooms. Small symbolic issues are easier to adjust than structural problems.

Never let feng shui excitement override inspection, legal review, budget, commute, and long-term maintenance costs.

Check: is the street quiet or busy? Are there any unpleasant smells, loud noises, or bright lights at night? Is the property on a T-junction or at the end of a dead-end street? Are there any large, oppressive buildings nearby? Is the neighborhood well-maintained? These factors affect daily quality of life.

Check: is the front door visible and easy to find? Does it open smoothly? Is the entrance well-lit? Is there space to pause when entering? Does the front door face a staircase, bathroom, or kitchen directly? Is the house number visible? The entrance sets the tone for the entire home.

Check: is the floor plan regular? Is the center of the home open and uncluttered? Are bedrooms separated from living areas? Is the kitchen in a practical location? Are bathrooms well-ventilated? Do rooms have good natural light? Is there adequate storage? The layout should feel intuitive and comfortable.

Check: is the stove in a stable position? Does the kitchen have good ventilation? Are there any signs of dampness, mold, or leaks? Is the bathroom door kept closed? Is the toilet lid kept down? Are plumbing and electrical systems in good condition? These are both feng shui and practical concerns.

Check: can the bed be placed against a solid wall? Is there enough space for two nightstands? Is the room quiet at night? Are there any structural beams above the bed? Is the bedroom far from the street and noisy areas? The master bedroom should be the most protected and peaceful room in the home.

Major red flags: dampness or mold, structural cracks, bad odors, poor natural light in main rooms, a floor plan that feels confusing or oppressive, excessive noise from neighbors or traffic, signs of pest infestation. These are not feng shui issues — they are quality-of-life issues that affect the home regardless of belief.
